Charter Night 2010 - 90 Years of Service Above Self - The Most Recent 60 Years

John Arnold, member since 1953, remembers the Rotary Club of Guelph (RCOG) from the 50's and 60's when the club met at the YMCA building and lunch was $ 1.85. One of the big projects of the time was the Beechwood Centre for children with physical disabilities.
Hal Jackson talked about the club in the 70's and 80's. During that period the RCOG became involved in International projects with assistance from CIDA., the Guelph Country Club became the meeting place and the first women joined the RCOG. Meetings started to be held at the ICC in the 80's.
Barb Holmes, the third woman to join the RCOG in 1990 related to us the more recent history of the Club with new initiatives like hospice and regular tree planting activities. In the early 2000's the Dream Home Lottery became the major fund raiser allowing the club to commit to support major projects such as the $ 500,000 pledge to the Partners for Better Health Hospital Fundraising Campaign.
