Charter Night 2010 - Clare Rennie Receives Service Above Self Award
Posted on Thursday, February 25th 2010    Last Tuesday, on the 90th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Guelph member Clare Rennie received the highest honour in Rotary, the "Service Above Self" Award. He is only the third recipient of this award in District 7080. The award was presented to Clare by the District Governor Bob Palmeteer (centre). The citation was read by R.I Director Michael Colasurdo Sr. (left).
Clare is a past president of the club (2005 - 2006), chairs the Operations Committee, is past chair and member of the Corporate Coordinating Committee. As past chair of the Rotary Forest subcommittee of the Environmet Committee he initiated the 12-year Rotary Forest project which, when completed in 2020, will have created a new 100-acre forest on GRCA land just north of the Guelph City limits. This major undertaking will lead to the first Centennial Project for the club. Clare has been a tireless worker on a wide variety of activities of the RCOG.
Clare's citation also makes reference to Clare's many contributions to the dairy industry at home and in China. He was an Assistant Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Ontario
