Committees in our club

Fundraising - Canada Day :
-The Canada Day celebration is a very popular community event which may attract up to more than forty thousand people. Numerous activities and entertainment throughout the afternoon culminate in the best fireworks in the area.
-Strive to increase member participation through Ahands on@ volunteering on the day of the event.
-Provide a specific event that appeals to the entire community.
-Increase the public image of the Club in the community.
-Generate funds for service projects.

Africa Committee Report I

Luisa del Rosario, a member of the Africa Committee, reported that the sewing project in Cameroon, started three years ago, is doing very well. A new project in Uganda has been started; this project's emphasis is on teaching women sewing skills on machines bought locally. Most women now make their own clothes, some have managed to sell some of their products and earn enough to support themselves.
Joanne McAuley introduced the presenters and showed a slide presentation of close to 100 pictures of the various projects.
