Dream Home 2010 Winner Is Murray Parkinson

In front of a record crowd at Riverside Park, Mayor Karen Farbridge drew the winning ticket from the drum for the Rotary Dream Home worth more than $543,000.
7350 tickets were in the drum for the final draw which was supervised and audited by David Clayton of BDO Canada. The winner, Murray Parkinson of Guelph, was not present at the draw. When contacted by phone the following day, Murray explained that his “phone line had been burning up” with friends and relatives calling to congratulate him and his wife Beth.
Over the past 9 years, The Rotary Club of Guelph’s Dream Home Lottery has raised over 1 million dollars that has gone back into the community to help support a number of different projects and services. Past recipients have included Hospice Wellington, KidsAbility and Sunrise Therapeutic Riding and Learning Centre. This year’s recipient is the Medical Education Centre at the Guelph General Hospital.
Without the generosity of the many Dream Home sponsors and the broad support of the community in buying tickets, this would not be a year to year success. Ian Smith, president of the Rotary Club of Guelph helped Mayor Farbridge in thanking all the people involved with the fundraiser.
